Savage Lands - Out of Breath (Official Video)
Die Bedrohung durch die Abholzung der Regenwälder Costa Ricas inspirierte Metal-Musiker dazu, sich zum Schutz des Ökosystems zusammenzuschließen.
Im Jahr 2022 gründeten Megadeth-Schlagzeuger Dirk Verbeuren und der Musiker und Aktivist Sylvain Demercastel die gemeinnützige Organisation SAVAGE LANDS (501(c)). Seitdem haben ihre Bemühungen bereits 100 000 Quadratfuß Wald gerettet, und alle Einnahmen aus dem Debütalbum «Army of the Trees» fließen in das Pflanzen von Bäumen, die Schaffung von Naturschutzgebieten und «grünen Zonen». In Partnerschaft mit dem Jane-Goodall-Institut und führenden Persönlichkeiten der Metal-Szene beweist das Projekt: Schwere Musik kann die Welt verändern.
Das Album «Army of the Trees» vereint Metal-Stars in einem Ökosystem kompromisslosen Klangs. Im Track «The Last Howl» verwebt sich der Gesang von John Tardy (Obituary) mit virtuosen Soli von Andreas Kisser (Sepultura). Kai Uwe Faust (Heilung) erfüllt «Black Rock Heart» mit dem mystischen Geist des Black-n-Roll, während Maria Franz (Heilung) mit ihrem ätherischen Gesang über der melancholischen Ballade «No Remedy» schwebt. Die Eurovision-Favoriten Lord of the Lost fügen «Out of Breath» blutigen Glam hinzu, und Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy) herrscht in «Ruling Queen», wobei sie von klarem Gesang zu löwenhaftem Brüllen wechselt. Der Titeltrack, aufgenommen unter Beteiligung von Julien Truchan (Benighted) und französischen Metal-Titanen, klingt wie ein Schlachtruf: «Es ist Zeit, Stellung zu beziehen!»
